Established in Alberta in 1996, MGA has been a global player in the field of structural and mechanical engineering. Our portfolio spans from designing intricate mining systems in Fort McMurray to providing construction support for a prominent commercial shopping center in New Jersey. Motivated by a rich legacy, MGA is dedicated to offering exceptional engineering services.

Maged Ghali, P. Eng., M. Eng. 

Chairman of the Board

Mr. Ghali received his Civil Engineering degree from McGill University, Canada, in 1975, and later earned his master’s degree from the University of Calgary, Alberta, in 1992. Mr. Ghali founded MGA Engineering in 1996 and has since steered the company to become one of the most esteemed specialty engineering consulting firms in Alberta.

With a hands-on approach, Mr. Ghali brings over 45 years of solid experience in multi-disciplinary projects. His commitment to excellence is evident in his active involvement in overseeing all aspects of MGA's engineering work. Clients and colleagues appreciate his ability to navigate complex challenges and deliver high-quality results.

​

Mr. Ghali possesses specialized knowledge in a variety of areas, including API 650/620 tanks, crushing plants, shiploaders, high-capacity conveyors, stacker-reclaimers, and large span structures. His expertise goes beyond technical proficiency; it extends to effective project management, ensuring each project's success.

Dr. Sherief Sakla, PhD, P. Eng., P.E. 

CEO

Dr. Sakla earned his Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from El-Mansoura University, Egypt, in 1989, followed by his Master of Applied Science degree from the University of Windsor, Ontario, in 1993. He later completed his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Structures) at the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, in 1997. With extensive experience in the planning, design, and supervision of heavy industrial and commercial projects, Dr. Sakla brings expertise in the comprehensive aspects of structural systems' design and construction, including repair and rehabilitation.

Since 1990, Dr. Sakla has actively engaged in academia on a part-time basis, contributing to universities worldwide. His teaching portfolio includes graduate and undergraduate courses covering theory of structures, structural steel design, concrete design, foundation design, finite element analysis, and structural stability.

Warren Bailey, P. Eng.

President

Mr. Bailey earned his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, in 1993, and has been a Canadian Professional Engineer since 1996. With a wealth of experience spanning trade, professional roles, and management, he has expertise in various areas such as detailed design, analysis, R&D, technical sales, estimating, procurement, project controls, on-site construction support and management, commissioning, aftermarket support, troubleshooting, and project direction.

​

Widely acknowledged globally by clients and colleagues, Mr. Bailey is esteemed for his extensive knowledge across all facets of complex projects. His ability to connect seamlessly across multiple disciplines and throughout project execution phases is well-regarded. Specializing in crushing plants, double-roll crushers, sizers, apron feeders, shiploaders, high-capacity/long overland conveyors, stacker-reclaimers, and slurry preparation plants, Mr. Bailey brings a comprehensive skill set to every endeavor.
